(Faded).
Invented by Rubens (1577-1640) for the decorations of Philip IV of Spain's hunting lodge, Torre de la Parada, the composition was executed by an influential member of his entourage, Cornelis de Vos.
Well-versed in his master's technique, but with his own interpretation, de Vos produced a true masterpiece, one of the most ambitious cycles undertaken by Rubens' workshop.
Our painting, derived directly from Cornelis de Vos' work now in the Prado Museum, is a true testament to the taste for works from Rubens' workshop. With its large dimensions, our canvas is one of the few quality reproductions of this subject. Another canvas of a similar format was in the collection of the Duke of Buccleuch of Queensberry.
