The coats of arms, engraved with a burin and initially printed on large sheets (maps), were cut out, finely colored, and assembled into five distinct sections: - Names, Titles, and Coats of Arms of the Governors, Captains, and Lieutenant Generals of the City, Provostship, and Viscounty of Paris. Paris, Published by the Author, 1731 [4 double-page plates engraved with a burin]; - Provosts of the Merchants and Aldermen of the City of Paris, n.d. The chronology of the provosts of the merchants ends in the year 1734 with Jean-Baptiste de Santeuil, the latest date appearing in the work. A few copies of a similar composition can be found, sometimes bound in morocco leather. One of them, like this one, has a “Catalogue of Coat-of-Arms Cards of the Chevillard Lords, Father and Son” pasted onto the front endpaper. A VERY BEAUTIFUL ARMORIAL, FULLY REPAINTED, UNKNOWN TO SAFFROY IN THIS FORM.
