Letter written after the death of his father, Louis de Sales, in November 1654. He asks his correspondent for forgiveness for his delay in replying and thanks him for the sympathy he expressed regarding this great loss he has suffered. He recalls “the beautiful and truly Carthusian life of this dear father. He passed away so sanctified that one could not wish for anything more. We all mourned him and prayed for him together (...). We have no doubt here that he is with his Blessed brother [Saint Francis de Sales], whom he so faithfully imitated according to his calling (...). We are working to collect his writings, which are most beautiful (...)."
