JOINVILLE (François d’Orléans, Prince of). - Lot 234
JOINVILLE (François d’Orléans, Prince of). 1818–1900. Third son of Louis-Philippe. Autograph letter to his “dear child.” Belle-Poule, Toulon, January 1, 1840. 1 p., double-leaf, in-8. A letter written in the prince’s playful tone to one of his sisters. “I’m writing to you just for the sake of writing, because I have absolutely nothing to tell you; they say we’ve been granted a 10-day reprieve and will only spend 20 days in prison, but that’s just another rumor (…). I am delighted that my hair is a source of pleasure to society; but I would add that for it to be in perfect condition, a groom would have to be sent to care for it and train it, as it has made no progress so far; it is raised in the Turkish style (…). ” He sends his regards to everyone, especially to Aumale.
