MADAME ADÉLAÏDE (Eugène-Adélaïde-Louise d’Orléans). - Lot 250
MADAME ADÉLAÏDE (Eugène-Adélaïde-Louise d’Orléans).
1777–1847. Daughter of Philippe-Égalité, younger sister of Louis-Philippe.
2 autograph letters and a signed note. Paris, February 17, 1830; Tuileries, February 12, 1832. 1 p. in-4, 2 pp. ½ in-8.
1830. Responding to a recommendation and expressing her interest in Madame de Forgit’s granddaughter. 1832. Regarding the false report about a close acquaintance she had recommended. “(…) My friends would have no cause to complain about the note you were kind enough to give me concerning him, in response to my trust (…). His integrity left nothing to be desired, save for the good-naturedness of which you had been told (…), and as for his opinions, those you knew him to hold were your own. Certainly, you could not have said anything better on his behalf. You see that your note, which never left my hands, has not been distorted; I wanted to prove this to you (…) I cannot express to you how upset I am by this hassle (…).”
ENCLOSED: a thank-you note.
