Exult, Magnificat! The softness of the Florentine horizons, arrived in the light - and as if one were entering a primitive painting on the same level - with a young woman and a small child. So many memories and so much work. Harmonious hills, the poetry of gardens and cloisters, the tenderness of the Madonnas, the fervent initiative of the Quattrocento, it is here that we find the youthful taste, the passion for beauty; Florence Jouvence, eternal spring," he wrote. These lines correspond perfectly to the atmosphere of the painting. He returned several times and it was there, in 1907, that he painted this Annunciation scene, a classic theme of Italian painting from Fra Angelico to Leonardo da Vinci or Botticelli. The Virgin Mary stands on the right while the Archangel Gabriel, kneeling, kneeling, announces his motherhood to her. The beauty of the painting, in addition to the softness of its tones, the harmony of the landscape in the background, is partly due to the fact that this biblical scene is transposed here into a contemporary setting on a Tuscan terrace, w
